Making Connections

At Gingerbread Gifts, we believe that a handmade gift can mean so much more than a store-bought present. Our gifts are crafted with love and care, perfect for keeping in touch with loved ones and sending a warm hug when they need it the most. Our gifts are made to show that someone is thinking of you, and we put our heart and soul into each and every creation.

I've always liked making things. I grew up watching my mom make our clothes, curtains, pillowcases, and so much more. One day, I decided I wanted to sew, so I bought myself a sewing machine, some fabric, and all the required notions and such, and I was off to the races! Fast forward more than a few years and my mom bought my sister's embroidery machine when my sister wanted one that would do more. I was instantly hooked! If something wasn't pinned down, it was likely going to be embroidered. It didn't take me long to outgrow the small 4x4 (design stitching area) machine like my sister once had. I got the next size up, one with a 5x7 stitching area, discovered in-the-hoop designs, and was soon on my way to the moon! Getting a third embroidery machine that can stitch totebags and jacket backs?...I'll let you know how to describe that when I figure it out!

I love embroidering things -- it's so much fun to see the design emerge and even better to give the items as gifts. The thing is, you can only give so many gifts before your friends and family have more than they need of what you're making. But even though they can't (won't) accept more gifts, the joy in making more doesn't go away. So, here we are, my with my plethora of items that I love to make, and you, with a need to give hand-made gifts with a personal touch.

I make the bulk of the items listed on the website, but I'm not alone. My mom, an avid quilter, occasionally makes things to sell. She's made quilted mug mats, pot holders, and scores of kitchen towels. (They'll be posted eventually.)

Mug rugs are the ultimate eco-friendly gift for a variety of reasons:

They are like greeting cards, but they won't get thrown away.
They can be used to protect your table from condensation rings and crumbs, or
They can be displayed as tabletop decorations or tiny wall hangings.
They are easy to care for: just toss them in with the rest of your laundry.
Many of the pieces of mug rugs and some of the other items available at Gingerbread Gifts, can be made from fabric scraps leftover from other projects. These scraps would otherwise be thrown out and end up in a landfill.

Greeting cards eventually get tossed in the trash or in a box of mementos, which means they seldom (if ever) get looked at again. Mug rugs, on the other hand, can be kept out and put to use or displayed all the time, so the thought behind them is never filed away in a box or rubbish bin.

Because we are able to use scraps of fabric when we make mug rugs, sometimes we can only make one or two mug rugs using that particular fabric. That's why the photos in the product descriptions show examples of the described items. What you see in the photos might not be the exact fabric you receive, the colors will always be consistent with what you order; we will not send you a pink mug mat if you order a blue one. Variety in fabrics used also ensures that you will receive a unique item!

I have literally thousands of designs and design combinations to choose from when making items like mug rugs, towels, book covers, and so much more! I have discovered numerous vendors who produce even more embroidery designs daily. Some of them are too wonderful to resist! Very often, I don't. That leaves me with a whole lot more options than I know what to do with. I've gifted nearly everyone I know to their saturation points, but still, there are so many designs I want to try. But I don't have any way of knowing what my customers will want. It seems a waste to make several of one item that no one wants, so my plan is to make one or two copies of the designs that capture my fancy, post them for sale, and make them on-demand once they're ordered. This method will allow me to make the variety of designs I want to make while allowing you the maximum amount of options to choose from!

US Customers

We offer free shipping to all US addresses (including US territories and APO/FPO addresses) via the US Postal Service's First Class, Ground Advantage, or Media Mail rates. If you would prefer a different carrier or faster delivery times, you will have to pay the shipping costs. Please email us at ginger@gingerbreadgifts.com to let us know if you'd like to make a shipping change.

International Customers

We will ship anywhere in the world, but customers outside the US will need to pay for shipping and other expenses (such as customs fees, etc.). Our system will automatically calculate postage based on your address, but if we pay less than that, we will refund the difference back to the payment method you used. Processing Time

Items that are already made, such as in-stock mug rugs, books, magazines, patterns, and so forth, will ship within two business days. If an item has free shipping, we use the US Postal Service's Ground Advantage, First Class Mail, and Media Mail services whenever possible. Those services generally come with a 2-5 day delivery period, according to the USPS.

Custom orders will take longer to produce, so they won't be shipped within the two-day window. We will discuss potential timelines for shipping as part of the design process for your customized products.

Returns and Exchanges

Due to the small scale of our business, all sales are final. We cannot accept returns or exchanges for any reason; however, we understand that sometimes life doesn't go as planned, so feel free to contact us within seven business days of receiving your order and we will work together to find a solution.

Custom orders that have not been shipped can be refunded, but a 20% cancellation fee will be applied.

If your order is damaged, contact us within seven business days of receiving it and provide a photo of the damaged item(s) and the packaging it arrived in and we can guide you through filing a claim or coming up with a solution. We are not responsible for loss due to the postal service.

Yes! We love free shipping when we buy things, so we offer free shipping to US addresses! To help us keep our costs down, we use the US Postal Service's Ground Advantage, First Class Mail, and Media Mail services whenever possible. Those services generally come with a 2-5 day delivery period, according to the USPS. You have the option to select a different carrier or a faster delivery service (such as Priority Mail or Overnight), but you will be responsible for those shipping costs. If you return an item for a refund or exchange, you will be responsible for paying the postage to send it to us.

Where will my order ship from?

We are located in Easley, South Carolina, a few minutes west of Greenville, SC.

When will I get my order?

What if my order never arrives?

Unfortunately, we do not have any control over what happens to packages after we take them to the post office. We suggest that you wait a few business days after receiving a delivery notification to see if the package turns up. If you still haven't received it or have any questions about your order after it has shipped, please contact your local post office and reference your tracking number.

What if my order is damaged?

If your item is damaged when it arrives, let us know within seven days of your receiving it. Send us a picture of the packaging (box, envelope, etc.) your item was in as well as a picture of the damaged item. If damaged packaging caused your item to be damaged, you will need to contact your local post office and reference your tracking number to file a claim. Once your claim is filed, we can work with you to make things right!
